Local FAQs

Boilers & heating

Can you repair a boiler that's stopped heating my Richmond home?

Yes. We handle boiler breakdowns and fault diagnostics in Richmond TW9 and TW10, including no heating or hot water. Tell us the boiler make, any error code and whether your hot water still works when you call.

My East Sheen radiators are cold at the bottom. Do I need a power flush?

Cold patches can indicate sludge, but we would check the heating system before recommending a power flush. We cover East Sheen and Mortlake in SW14 for radiator, valve and central heating work.

Do you work on hot-water cylinders in Teddington and Kingston?

Yes. We cover cylinder and heating issues in Teddington TW11 and Kingston KT1/KT2. Let us know whether you have a hot-water cylinder, and whether the problem affects every tap or only one outlet.

Why do I have no hot water?

The most common causes are a boiler fault (check for an error code and that the pressure gauge sits around 1–1.5 bar when cold), a failed diverter valve on a combi boiler, or a faulty cylinder thermostat on systems with a hot-water tank. Check the boiler has power and the programmer is calling for hot water — but do not open the boiler casing. If those checks do not restore it, call us with the boiler make and any error code; we cover no-hot-water calls across all our areas, day and night.

I have heating but no hot water — what does that usually mean?

On a combi boiler, heating working while hot water fails usually points to the diverter valve or a hot-water sensor. On a system with a cylinder, it is often the cylinder thermostat or motorised valve. Both are standard repairs for a Gas Safe Registered engineer — tell us your boiler type when you call and we will bring the likely parts.

Is no hot water an emergency?

It depends on your household. For families with young children, elderly or vulnerable people, or where there is no electric shower as a backup, we treat loss of hot water as urgent and answer 24/7. If you can manage short-term, a next-day visit may suit you better — call us and we will talk through the options and quote before any work.

Leaks & pipework

Can you trace a hidden leak in a Barnes home?

Leak detection and repairs are among our services in Barnes SW13. If water is still escaping, turn off the stopcock if safe and tell us where you can see dampness or dripping. We can discuss tracing the source before agreeing on a repair.

Water is leaking into a Putney flat — who should I call?

If safe, isolate your water supply and keep clear of any electrics near the leak. Let affected neighbours or the building manager know, then call us about the leak in SW15. We handle active leaks, burst pipes and pipe repairs, subject to access to the source.

Can you replace old pipework or a stopcock in Barnes or Richmond?

Yes. Pipe installation, repiping, lead-pipe renewal and stopcock replacement are listed services. Tell us what you can see of the existing pipework and whether you can isolate the water; we can then discuss the job and quote.

My radiator is leaking — what should I do first?

Put a towel and bowl under the drip and check where it is coming from: the valve, the bleed screw or the radiator body. If it is the valve, gently tightening the nut by a quarter turn sometimes stops it. If the radiator itself is rusted through or the leak keeps going, close both valves to isolate it and call us — we cover all our areas.

Why is my radiator leaking from the valve?

Valve leaks usually come from a loose nut, worn gland packing or an ageing valve. A small weep can often be fixed by tightening or repacking; a corroded valve is better replaced. We fit radiator and thermostatic valves across Richmond, Putney, Wimbledon, Kingston and our other areas.

Servicing & landlords

Do you offer a boiler service and CP12 in Twickenham?

Yes. Our annual boiler service and CP12 gas safety certificate service covers Twickenham TW1/TW2 and the other areas we serve. Landlords need a gas safety check every 12 months; contact us to arrange access and the appointment.

Can I book boiler servicing for a Wimbledon property?

Yes. We cover Wimbledon SW19 and SW20 for annual boiler servicing as well as repairs and heating work. If you are booking for a tenant, let us know how to arrange access.

Emergency call-outs

Do you take 24-hour plumbing calls in all our areas?

Yes. Our 24/7 emergency line covers Richmond, East Sheen, Barnes, Putney, Twickenham, Teddington, Wimbledon, Kingston, Wandsworth, Clapham, Battersea, Balham, Tooting, Fulham and Chelsea. Call for active water leaks, burst pipes or loss of heating and hot water; we will discuss the issue and quote before work starts.

What if I smell gas?

Leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first. Do not use switches, flames or your boiler. Once the emergency service has made it safe, contact us if you need heating or boiler work.
